The 5th Annual Gardenology Festival was held May 18, 2013 between 10am and 4pm. The event was held in downtown Geneva. Gardenology advisers and vendors shared their best ideas and garden related products to jump-start your gardening season. Experts in every horticulture field including farming, landscape design, weavers, local nurseries, and were on-hand to answer questions. Topics included herbs, flowers, vegetables, heirloom plants and perennials. More information is available at gardenologygenevail.com.

Come celebrate National GET OUTDOORS DAY Saturday, June 8 anytime between 1- 4 p.m., at the RiverPark of Geneva, Peyton St. and N. River Lane. Enjoy the music of nationally known folk singer Lee Murdoch; experience a “nature treasure hunt” either the traditional way or by using a Geocaching app.

Enter the photo and poetry contest by May 31.
Submit a photograph for the RiverPark’s photo contest or participate in a “native plant poetry slam.” Go to www.riverparkofgeneva.com for rules and regulations.

Sponsored by the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission, this GO DAY will be a great day, full of fun, adventure, art, and the great outdoors. Sketch native plants in bloom with help from Geneva High Art Club students, learn about the Park’s regionally recognized prairie eco-system from naturalists and Denise Sandoval of the Conservation Foundation’s Conservation at Home program. Try yoga with Pam O’Brien, observe plein aire painters. Sing & hear stories. Come.
